OECM Hiring Process
Q: What is OECM’s hiring and evaluation process?
A: OECM follows a consistent process for all recruitment. Vacant positions are posted on the Careers page of our website, and may also be posted on various internet job boards as required to attract qualified candidates. All candidates must submit their application online in our applicant tracking system in order to be considered for a vacancy. The following steps then occur:
Step 1: Applications are screened on-line to determine if the minimum qualifications for the position have been met.
Step 2: Candidates possessing the minimum qualifications are contacted to participate in a 30-45 minute telephone screen with Human Resources, to further explore their experience and qualifications
Step 3: After the telephone screening, candidates are short-listed for in-person interviews. Some hiring managers may also include their own telephone screen at this stage, before deciding on the short-list for in-person interviews.
Step 4: In-person interviews are scheduled and are usually conducted by a panel of 2 or 3 people. The hiring manager is always part of this panel. Other participants may include peers, next level manager, members of the executive management team, or representatives from stakeholder organizations.
Step 5: Conditional verbal offer is extended to the successful candidate, and the background checks are begun. Our mandatory background checks include criminal, credit, education verification, employment verification, and three references.

Q: I’m a student looking for a placement – is there a special application process that I should follow?
A: Internships and co-op opportunities are not posted on OECM’s Careers page – they are posted at the respective institution according to each program’s placement process.
